Volunteering

It’s our volunteers who make this whole operation work. We are a 100%-volunteer team. Volunteers perform one or both of two major roles: as a Call Center Representative, or a  Loan Closet Service Manager.

Call Center Representative

Call Center Representatives should have excellent listening and problem-solving skills. They are in charge of handling both inbound and outbound phone calls with clients, listening to our clients’ concerns and making sure they get the help they need with setting appointments for borrowing medical equipment, returning borrowed equipment, or donating equipment. There is rarely a day that we do not get 10 to 20 calls to assist someone. We ask our volunteers to commit to 3 to 4, 4-hour shifts a month — 9 AM to 1 PM or, 1 PM to 5 PM — Mondays thru Fridays, or 3-hours on Saturdays, 8:30 AM-11:30 AM. You pick the days that work for you. The special requirements needed to volunteer are your commitment and desire to help others. Computer skills are helpful but not required. We provide all necessary training on our call-forwarding system and data-base software that will be installed on your personal smartphone and/or home computer so you are able to work from your home or anywhere.

Loan Closet Service Manager

If you do not like phones and prefer more physical work, volunteering as a Loan Closet Service Manager can be very satisfying, meeting and personally assisting people with their medical equipment needs. You set your own days and hours, when you would like to open and close the loan closet. Most volunteers sign up for a 2- to 3-hour shift, Monday through Saturday. We ask for a commitment of 3 to 4 shifts per month. We provide full training and support for you to be able to work on your own at the closet. You are your own boss.
